What it is formulated to do:
Some info directly from Clinique:
What It Is: A luscious and fast-absorbing gel-cream hydrator that delivers an unprecedented 72-hours of continuous moisture, even after washing your face!
What It Does:
Immediately infuses skin with a surge of moisture using humectants and Activated Aloe Water. Delivers an instant moisture boost of 152% so that skin looks fresh, plump, and dewy.
Helps skin to create its own internal water source to continually rehydrate itself using Auto-Replenishment
Technology:
Draws and distributes water from skin’s depths up to the surface so every layer of the epidermis is
saturated with sustainable moisture using Auto-Replenishing Technology. It hydrates for 72-hours non- stop – our testing proves it – even after washing your face.
Seals in moisture with the Moisture-Holding Super Matrix and Hyaluronic Acid to deliver almost twice the
hydration at end of day than it did before*.
Overtime, skin’s moisture barrier and its ability to lock in hydration is strengthened.
Helps maintain and increase hydration levels in shifting humidity and temperature.
Smooths, softens, and plumps skin, improving the look of fine dry lines, flakiness and tightness from
dehydration.
Refreshes skin, leaving it lit with a healthy radiance, and perfectly prepared for makeup application.
Who It Is For: All Skin Types . Suitable even for sensitive skin.
This multi-tasking hydrator can be used several other ways too! Such as:
As a hydration booster, apply over your regular moisturizer with fingertips.
Can be used under and over makeup.
When used as a 5-minute facial mask, apply an adequate amount and tissue-off excess amount or allowed absorption onto skin.
Can be used on dry area such as cuticles, end of dry hair and elbows.
(* Twice the hydration at the end of the day when compared to the original formula.)

Does it contain any special/beneficial ingredients?
Again, according to Clinique:
Moisture Drawing & Regulation
Caffeine + Activated (+/-) Aloe Water/ Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water: TEEP (Trans Epidermal Electrical Potential) is a vital ionic “pump” in the skin, which runs from top to bottom of [the] epidermis. Its job is to pump water up through all the layers of skin from the ‘well’ – the skin’s resource of water in the basal layer of skin. When this is working properly every layer of epidermis is deeply hydrated with water. Due to exposure to environmental assaults such as UV rays, skin cells’ vital “pump” can be easily damaged, diminishing the natural energy needed to pump water from the well. Caffeine helps to energize the pumps, while the specially charged Activated Aloe Water delivers intense hydration by increasing skin’s affinity to water to enable the maximum delivery of moisture. They work together to maintain the balance of hydration through all the layers of the skin.
Trehalose + Sorbitol: Sugar derived ingredients that penetrate deep into the stratum corneum to help maximize the skin’s natural ability to attract moisture from the environment, despite drastic drops in temperature and humidity. Both ingredients counter the osmotic shock effect, when cell membranes are dehydrated due to moisture imbalance within skin. Skin’s natural “irrigation” system to regulate moisture is improved.
Thermus Thermophillus Ferment: This water-binding agent acts as a protective “coat” to defend the skin against fluctuations in changing humidity conditions that affect moisture levels. Coupled with Trehalose and Sorbitol, helps prevent skin from reacting to drastic weather changes and allows the skin to adjust to shifts in humidity so that moisture levels at the upper layers of the stratum corneum are optimally maintained.
Hyaluronic Acid Fragments: In skin, Hyaluronic Acid is a jelly-like substance that fills the spaces between the skin’s essential support structures and is known to hydrate the skin by holding in water and act as a cushioning and lubricating agent against mechanical and chemical damage. These new low molecular weight particles effectively penetrate the epidermis to provide a more potent water retention capacity, creating a “moisture reservoir” to continually bind water molecules.
Betula Alba Extract + Lady’s Thistle (Silybum Marianum) Fruit Extract: The synergistic effect of this botanical blend improves skin’s natural moisture retention ability by preventing the loss of skin’s natural hyaluronic acid and improving epidermal strength. Improvement in moisture maintenance results from a more supple epidermis layer that locks and holds onto hydration better, longer.
Moisture Retention
Sodium Polyaspartate (NEW): Multi-tasking Sodium Polyaspartate, once it’s absorbed in skin, is broken down to amino acid, a major component of Natural Moisturizing Factors. Natural Moisturizing Factors are a collection of water-soluble compounds that are only found is stratum corneum. These compounds absorb water from the atmosphere and combine it with their own water content allowing the outmost layers of the stratum corneum to stay hydrated despite exposure to environmental shifts and assaults.
Hydroxyethyl Urea (NEW)/ Glycerin: A potent moisturizing agent coupled with a strong humectant synergistically enhances immediate and prolonged hydration. Hydroxyethyl Urea diffuses into the stratum corneum to intensely hydrate dry skin, leaving it comfortable and supple while Glycerin boosts the skin’s ability to extract water from the air, extending moisturization.
Polysaccharide Isomerate (NEW): Usually identified as a humectant like Hyaluronic Acid, this substance, in association with protein, binds water and other cellular elements so they remain intact, forming a matrix that holds skin cells together.
Moisture Delivery & Maintenance
Liposomes: A delivery system made of Hydrogenated Lecithin, a composition that mimics the natural lipids found in the skin. Bursts of Trehalose and Tocopheryl Acetate are continually released to replenish the skin’s barrier to lock in moisture.
Tocopheryl Acetate/ Green Tea/ Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate: A potent blend of antioxidants that delivers free radical protection from environmental stress and deters the effects of dehydration.
Dimethicone: A highly recognized skin conditioner that helps maintains surface hydration; provides slip and cushion for an effortless application.

What is the texture like?
This feels like a refreshing watery gel-cream.

Is it scented?
This has a faint aloe-ish scent.

My overall experience/comments on the product:
This feels so nice and refreshing on the skin, it feels incredibly hydrating, refreshing, and soothing while being lightweight. I have the older formula to compare it to, as you see in the photos above. I find the older formula feels just a smidge lighter-weight and more refreshing but isn't as hydrating; it also doesn't seem to absorb quite as quickly. I do like that it has more of a cooling sensation which is kind of prolonged by it not absorbing as quickly but overall, I prefer the newer formulation for the hydration it provides.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
