July 2026 Departures

Ok folks. Departure blogs will contain items that aren't empties but that are going to be given away for one reason or another. I'm working hard to curate my makeup collection and want it to include only the products that I think truly work well, that I reach for often and do what they're supposed to do.

1. Quo Mauve Over Eyeshadow Quad: This palette is alright with the exception of the matte plum shade, which was a pain to get to blend. Given that I own similar shades in other palettes that I'm more likely to grab for, I'll be passing this along.

2. Quo True Hues Eyeshadow Palette: As with the above palette, the darker shades in this one were a pain to get to blend nicely. The light colors are pretty but in general, I have similar shades in my current collection and will be passing the palette along.

Disclaimer: I received the Quo palettes as gifts. All opinions are my own.

Love It Or Leave It; Review 2.0: peripera 10 Be Lovely Wholly Deep Jewel Pot ,peripera 7 Be Trendy Wholly Deep Jewel Pot, Quo Mauve Over Eyeshadow Quad, and Quo True Hues Eyeshadow Palette

Hello folks. As a makeup junkie and blogger you may have realized that I review a LOAD of eye shadow palettes and I like to think of myself as being largely an eye shadow junkie. In order to de-clutter a bit  I've decided to pick out a palette or series of eye shadows for the month and have that be my monthly selection for those instances where I'm not doing a tutorial for the blog. Every month I'll do a recap on the eye shadows - how I feel about them and whether I'll be keeping them or giving them away (and why :P).

You can find looks I did with the palettes here and here. Here are the looks I did using these eyeshadows:

So as you can see I created a bunch of colorful and somewhat neutral looks using these eyeshadows. I have been using the Spin the Wheel app and playing "Palette Roulette" as inspired by xsparkage and it's been so much fun and takes the guesswork out of figuring out which colors to use every day. I just roll 5 shades and work with them for the most part - sometimes I'll add a blending shade or highlight as necessary. I'm definitely holding on to the beautiful glittery pigments - I love the metallic, foiled finish they provide and how technically they can be used on their own or to boost a look when applied over existing eyeshadow. Beautiful! That being said, I will be passing the Quo palettes along. I just know I have similar shades in other palettes and I find that the Quo shadow quality isn't the greatest - they go on patchy, chalky, and I have to fight with them to get them to blend.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Disclaimer:  I purchased everything you see myself with the exception of the Quo palettes, which were a gift.

Love It Or Leave It; Review 2.0: Quo Chasing Waterfalls Eyeshadow Quad and Sigma Creme De Couture Macaron Inspired Eye Shadow Palette

Hello folksickles. As a makeup junkie and blogger you may have realized that I review a LOAD of eyeshadow palettes and I like to think of myself as being largely an eyeshadow junkie. In order to declutter a bit  I've decided to pick out a palette or series of eyeshadows for the month and have that be my monthly selection for those instances where I'm not doing a tutorial for the blog. Every month I'll do a recap on the eyeshadows - how I feel about them and whether I'll be keeping them or giving them away (and why :P) as well as if I think it's worth its price tag.

You can find a look I did with the palettes here and here, respectively. These are the looks I created this month:

So as you can see I created all sorts of colorful looks with these shadows. I personally have found that the Sigma shadows, in particular, are easy to blend and the pigmentation on them is fantastic, especially when applied over a white base - I used the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. That being said, I feel like the colors in the Quo palette are a bit stubborn when it comes to blending, so I have passed it along.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Disclaimer: I received both of these palettes as gifts from my bestie and my wifey, respectively.

May 2024 Departures

Ok folksickles. Departure blogs will contain items that aren't empties but that are going to be given away for one reason or another. I'm working hard to curate my makeup collection and want it to include only the products that I think truly work well, that I reach for often and do what they're supposed to do.

1. Trish McEvoy Essential Pencil in Barely There:  I feel like the color of this pencil isn't necessarily flattering on me, it's nude in an orangey, flat kind of way. I personally wish it had more pink in it so that it would lean peachy or rosy. That said, as I have plenty of other lipsticks and lip products, I'll be passing it along.

2. Quo Chasing Waterfalls Eyeshadow Quad:  Unfortunately, I find that the darker colors in this palette tend to go on patchy and are somewhat resistant to blending, even though they will blend out eventually. That said, it not being particularly easy to work with - I know I just won't reach for it so I'll be passing it along.

Disclaimer: The Trish McEvoy item was provided for testing purposes, the Quo palette was a gift, all opinions are my own.

Mascara Review: Quo Curl Effortless Mascara

Alright folksickles...
Today I will be reviewing the Quo Curl Effortless Mascara

Sans Mascara:

With Mascara:

Availability: This appears to be discontinued.
Would I buy this?: Probably not.
Notes: This mascara comes in just the black as far as I know.
Let's go over what the mascara's supposed to do and what it actually does. Well given that I can't find it on any websites, it appears that the main job of the mascara is to curl the lashes. Given that my lashes have some natural curl and that I avoid using a curler because then it's difficult to glue falsies on I just... don't ever super care for curling in particular. That said let's get on to the review.
Alright so I'm sure you can see from the photographs that this mascara certainly does give my lashes a boost in terms of curling and lifting them but it didn't really do much otherwise. I didn't have any issues with this mascara flaking or smudging.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. Thanks!

Disclaimer: My best friend got me this for Christmas last year.

Lipstick Review: Quo Tickle Me Pink Lip Velour

Quo Lip Velour in Tickle Me Pink

Availability: This appears to be discontinued.
Would I buy this again? Yes.
Notes: This is a beautiful warm-toned hot pink. This goes on opaque and dries to a matte finish. It has a sweet scent to it. It wore for about 6 hours without much fading and didn't bleed.

Please let me know if you have any comments or questions.
