Oil Review: PURITO PLAINET SQUALANE OIL 100

PURITO PLAINET SQUALANE 100

Availability: This is available at iherb.com, stylevana.com, yesstyle.com, puritoen.com, and amazon.com. It retails around $11.50 - $14 for 1.01 oz. (30 mL).

Would I buy this again? Yes.

What is this product? What is it supposed to do?
According to puritoen.com:
Derived 100% from sugarcane, a lightweight, multi-purpose squalane oil rapidly penetrates the skin to instantly hydrate and lock in moisture. This replenishing facial oil works to boost elasticity, nourish, soothe, and smooth out dehydration lines. PLAINET SQUALANE OIL helps promote cell turnover and lessens the appearance of fine lines. This plant-based vegan oil improves skin health by soothing redness and skin irratation.

Does this contain any special/beneficial ingredients?
Squalane: Squalane has anti-inflammatory properties, is lightweight, and helps smooth the texture of skin.

What is the texture like?
This has a bit of an oily feel to it when first applied, but it absorbs readily and quickly into the skin.

Is this scented?
This has no discernable scent to it.

What has my experience with the product been like?
I'm sure many of you readers know, if you've read my blog for any length of time, of my deep love for squalane oil. While I am a bit of a loyalist to the , I decided that since I was ordering things on yesstyle.com I might as well see if there is a squalane that is available on the Korean market. Is one better than the other? Frankly, no. That being said, both myself and my skin (I say because it got all rough and flakey) were both upset when my squalane oil ran out and I am glad to have one to use. For anyone that needs a recap, I personally love squalane because, when I use it regularly, my skin is far less red and I constantly suffer with skin-irratation related redness because, due to my PCOS, I shave my face. Additionally, squalane oil makes my skin feel silky smooth unlike anything else. So due to both the buttery skin texture and the reduction in both irratation and redness, I love my squalane.

Love It Or Leave It; Review 2.0: ColourPop Lilac You A Lot Pressed Powder Palette

Hello folksickles. As a makeup junkie and blogger you may have realized that I review a LOAD of eyeshadow palettes and I like to think of myself as being largely an eyeshadow junkie. In order to de-clutter a bit  I've decided to pick out a palette or series of eyeshadows for the month and have that be my monthly selection for those instances where I'm not doing a tutorial for the blog. Every month I'll do a recap on the eyeshadows - how I feel about them and whether I'll be keeping them or giving them away (and why :P) as well as if I think it's worth its price tag.

You can find a look I did with the palette here. These are the looks I created this month:
So as you can see I created some smoky, some bright, purple looks. I really love the quality of this palette - the color payoff is excellent, the shadows are beautiful, and they blend well. I absolutely adore the selection of purples in this palette  in both metallic and matte finishes which enables one to create quite the variety of looks. Many of these shades also work beautifully as blushes and highlighters on the face as well. I honestly love its versatility and I love the way the shades in here look with my brown eyes so I will definitely be holding onto this palette.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Disclaimer: I purchased this palette myself.

Essence Review: COSRX Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

Hello folksickles. Today's review will be on the COSRX Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence.

Availability: This product retails at $8.50 for a 1.01 fl. oz. travel size and anywhere from $12 - $25 for 100 ml (3.38 fl. oz.) and is available at ulta.com, iHerb.com, stylevana.com, amazon.com, yesstyle.com, target.com, and cosrx.com.

Would I buy this again?: I can see myself getting this again at some point for sure.

What is this product designed to address?
According to cosrx.com this is what the product is and what it does:
Enriched with 96.3% skin boosting ingredient snail secretion filtrate
Light- weight essence which absorbs into skin fast to give skin natural glow from the inside. This essence is created from nutritious, low-stimulation filtered snail mucin to keep your skin moisturized and illuminated all day.
BENEFITS
• Fades dark spots
• Improves skin texture
• Anti-aging
• Intense hydration
TARGETS
• Dull & rough skin
• Soothing damaged skin
• Dark spots & scars

Does it contain any special/beneficial ingredients?
Once again, according to cosrx.com:
• 96.3% snail secretion filtrate :
deliver rich nourishment through quick absorption
• 1,000 ppm sodium hyaluronate :
plumping and soothing care, infuses hydration
This also contains:
Allantoin: Has hydrating properties that are meant to help smooth the skin's texture (helps reduce rough, dry patches); has ant-inflammatory properties.
Arginine: Has hydrating and anti-oxidant properties.

What is the texture like?
This feels like a watery gel, I know the pictures make it look tacky like honey and it will have that funny-looking pull to it due to the snail mucin but this is by no means sticky or tacky the way honey would be. It absorbs readily into the skin.

Is it scented?
This has an extremely faint, perfume-y floral scent that some snail products can have but given how light it is I don't really smell it when I use the product.

My overall experience/comments on the product:
The reason I purchased this is because of that eczema patch I constantly complain about in my moisturizer empties and the fact that my skin was just very dry and irritated from having been sick when I ordered this. Originally I was going to just go for a hyaluronic acid serum but I was on yesstyle.com and I was thinking that every time I've used snail products in the past they've really soothed and hydrated my skin so it sounded right up my alley. I've been using this consistently for about two weeks now and while the eczema patch stubbornly remains, this product really does feel very hydrating and refreshing going onto my skin. I would purchase this again just because I really like the way it feels.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Aleurites Moluccana Extract: Has anti-aging properties, helps boost skin turnover.
Titanium Dioxide: Protects skin from sun damage, it is often a sunscreen ingredient so I don't see its benefits in a mask that ends up washed off.

What is the texture like?
This has a soft clay mask feel that dries down to a rubbery texture; this does feel a bit tight on my skin as it dries but isn't uncomfortable.

Is this scented?
This has an herbaceous, citrusy scent; I wouldn't say it smells like sweet lemon tea though.

What has my experience with the product been like?
Honestly it feels, based on the ingredient list, as though there are a lot of ingredients here that could do good for the skin. That being said, I wish it had a different delivery system of perhaps being a mask that simply went on and then washed off. I find that this really hurts and irritates my skin when I go to peel it off, I have trouble getting it on evenly so some areas never fully set and I end up having to wash them off with a washcloth because this mask is stubborn.  Them saying that it is "easy to peel off" is a lie! This again, irritates my skin. Like, when I do finally get this off, it makes my skin feel very soft and smooth but at the expense of all that inflammation and irratation I feel like it's not worth using.

Mask Review: Freeman Rejuvenating cucumber + pink salt Clay Mask

'Ello folksickles. Today's review will be for the Freeman Rejuvenating cucumber + pink salt Clay Mask.

Availability:  This retails anywhere from $2.19 for the sample packet I have in the photographs above - 0.5 fl. oz. (15 mL) to anywhere from $4 - $10 for the full sized tube - 6 fl. oz.

Would I buy this again? Possibly.

What is this product? What is it supposed to do?
According to sallybeauty.com:
What is it?
Freeman Cucumber and Pink Salt Clay Mask is a detoxifying clay mask rejuvenates, exfoliates and clears skin with Cucumber extract and Himalayan pink salts. It offers the perfect spa experience for deep cleaned, smoothed & relaxed skin.
What makes it special?
Rejuvenates exfoliates and clears skin
Smooths and relaxes the skin
Deep cleans skin

Does this contain any special/beneficial ingredients?
Bentonite, Kaolin, and Illite (Green) Clay: Help treat breakouts and regulate sebum production. Absorbs excess sebum.
Glycerin: Helps attract moisture to the skin.
Titanium Dioxide: Prevents sun damage (although typically as sunscreen, unsure of its benefits here in a wash-off mask).
Cucumber Fruit Extract: Has hydrating, softening, refreshing, cooling, and soothing properties.
Himalayan Pink Salt: Has anti-inflammatory properties.

What is the texture like?
This has a classic clay mask feel and dries down to the point where my skin feels a bit tight. It also has exfoliating bits in it which I believe is the salt.

Is this scented?
This has a mostly fresh, slightly sweet scent to it.

What has my experience with the product been like?
My skin feels super smooth and silky when I wash this off and I like that it gives my skin a bit of extra exfoliation. That being said, I'm not sure if I'll be going out of my way to purchase this as it makes my skin feel tight and dry as it dries down and I feel like my skin could use something a bit more hydrating.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Collection Pro Pigment Palette Vol. 6 Look

Hey folks! Today I bring you a fun, smoky green look - I like how it's somewhat festive but somewhat springtime at the same time.

Enough blabbering, tutorial time!
I  applied the YSL Crème de Blush Cream Blush in 5 Fuchsia Temptation as a base for C1 with my Sephora Collection Pro Mini Airbrush 55.5. I also applied A2 using my fingertips to highlight my cheekbones.
As a base for my eyeshadow I applied NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk and blended it out with my Crown Pro C511 brush.
For the crease I applied B5 along with E3 with the wet n wild Crease Brush and Crown Pro C511 Brush, respectively.
For the lid I applied A1 with my Crown Pro C510 brush; I also applied E5 to the outer corner of the eye with the same brush to add a bit of definition.
To highlight the brow-bone and the inner corner of the eye I applied Colourpop Lux and A1 using my no-name gigantic paddle brush from Crown and Crown Pro C528 brush, respectively.
For eyeliner I applied the AOA Artista Black Fine Tip Liquid Eyeliner with a nice cat eye; I also applied Urban Decay 24/7 Junkie Glide-On Eye Pencil to the waterline.
For the lower lash line, I applied C1 using my Bubbi Detail brush.
The look sans falsies.
For lashes I used AOA Studio 3D Faux Mink Premium Natural Lashes in Isla along with the AOA Studio A+ Super Strip Lash Adhesive.
Hope that you liked this! :D It was super fun for me to put together!

Please let me know if you have any comments or questions.
