Eye Cream Review: The Face Shop Clean Beauty Rice Water Bright Vegan Eye Cream

Hello folksickles. Today's review will be for The Face Shop Clean Beauty Rice Water Bright Vegan Eye Cream.

Availability: This retails at $22 - $30 for 20 mL (0.67 fl. oz.) and is available at amazon.com and toktokshop.com.

Would I buy this again?: Probably not.

What is this product designed to address?
According to amazon.com this is what the product is and what it does:
A vegan eye cream that recharges the under-eyes! Silky and quick-absorbing formula with rice extract, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide.
Benefits
Visibly diminish dark circles and brightens the under eye area

Does it contain any special/beneficial ingredients?
These are the highlighted ingredients according to amazon.com:
Fermented Rice Water: is a brand-signature ingredient, rice extract is fermented for 28 days for maximum potency to help hydrate and brighten skin.
Niacinamide: which helps improve skin tone.
Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid: which helps hydrate and moisturize skin.

What is the texture like?
I'd describe the texture as a lightweight, creamy, serum-like lotion.

Is it scented?
This doesn't have a particularly discernable scent to it.

My overall experience/comments on the product:
I've been using this eye cream for a few weeks now and I feel like it's hydrating in a light way that doesn't interfere with my makeup. That being said, I don't feel like it does anything in terms of brightening under eye circles or helping with puffiness, which frankly are the two main issues I've got. In fact, I purchased this because it's obviously marketed as a brightening product and while I like how hydrating yet lightweight this is, it simply doesn't do what I wanted it to do. Granted, because this isn't particularly inexpensive and I can get equally hydrating eye creams for less, I won't be purchasing it again.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Would I buy this again?: Possibly!

What is this product designed to address?

According to yesstyle.com:

Myristic Acid: Has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and hydrating properties.

Althea Officinalis Root Extract: Has hydrating, antioxidant, and soothing properties.
Olive Fruit Oil and Sapindus Trifoliatus Fruit Extract: Have hydrating, antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties.
Peach Leaf Extract: Has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

What is the texture like?
I would describe the texture of this as a soft cream that foams up when mixed with water.

Is it scented?
This has a light, sweet, clean scent that I'd describe as reminiscent of white peaches mixed with soap.

My overall experience/comments on the product:
I feel like this cleanser is great in the sense of that it has that cushiony, soft, foaming quality that I love. That being said, I wish it were a bit more hydrating and I'm genuinely unsure if this cleanser is stripping my skin, because I don't typically use it as a standalone makeup remover but in conjunction with a makeup removal oil for double cleansing, so maybe using both is overkill. Perhaps it's also the weather being all over the place this time of year, but I feel like I just wish it left my skin feeling more hydrated.  Overall I like it, but I don't know that I would get this particular one again.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Does this come in any other shades than the one pictured above?
This comes in 25 shades.

What's the coverage/consistency like?
This has a full, buildable coverage with a creamy consistency.

Does this have any beneficial ingredients in it?
Hyaluronic Acid: Has hydrating properties, helps attract water to the skin.
Rosa Damascena Flower Water: Has hydrating properties.

Is this scented?
This has a very faint, fermented, beer-like scent that, frankly, I only notice if I'm smelling the applicator directly.

What has my experience with the product been like?
You may remember that in my review of the matte version, I said this same shade in it was too light for me. Well, in this hydrating version it's pretty much a spot-on match. I'm unsure how I feel about it because I love that it's full-coverage, that a little goes a long way, and it has a healthy looking radiant finish. That said, I feel like it's very easy to go overboard with this concealer due to its high pigment load and that leads to a very cakey looking finish. I almost feel like this would do best blended out with a fluffy brush or a sponge to sort of blend yet sheer it out simultaneously and should be applied like watercolors - meaning in thin, light layers until the desired coverage is achieved, which frankly wouldn't take long due to its high pigment load.

What do I use to apply the product?
I apply this with  my memebox Artis dupe brush and my ring finger.

I feel like this review is as thorough as it gets but please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Love It Or Leave It; Review 2.0: Kat Von D: Black No. 1, Iggy, Paranoid, and Thrasher Metal Crush Eyeshadow and Poetica True Romance Eyeshadow Palette

Hello folksickles. As a makeup junkie and blogger you may have realized that I review a LOAD of eyeshadow palettes and I like to think of myself as being largely an eyeshadow junkie. In order to declutter a bit I've decided to pick out a palette or series of eyeshadows for the month and have that be my monthly selection for those instances where I'm not doing a tutorial for the blog. Every month I'll do a recap on the eyeshadows - how I feel about them and whether I'll be keeping them or giving them away (and why :P) as well as if I think it's worth its price tag.

You can find a look I did with the palette here. These are the looks I created this month:
So as you can see I created all sorts of colorful looks with these shadows. I personally have found that these shadows are easy to blend and the pigmentation on them is fantastic. All of them work really great in my experience. That said, I've decided to pass them all along. Again, there's nothing wrong with them and they work great, but I have dupes for literally all of these colors within my collection and I don't find myself reaching for these particular eyeshadows that often so I'd rather pass them on.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Disclaimer: I purchase all of the Metal Crush Eyeshadow shades myself. The Poetica True Romance Eyeshadow Palette was a gift from a friend.

Semptember 2024 Arrivals

Ok folksickles! I'm back to replenishing on things that I'm running out of and buying mostly just necessities.

1. Clean Beauty Smoke & Mirrors 6 Pairs of Reusable Lashes with Lash Glue: It's been a while since I've tried a variety pack of lashes but since this was $5 I decided to give it a go. I like the shapes that they picked for this set.

2. L.A. Colors Dramaticlash winged Volume Cat Eye: I also picked these up because frankly, these winged lashes that are shorter at the front and longer in the back tend to create a nice lift to my eye shape and I also like the spiky but also wispy effect that these have.

3. Green Pharmacy Chamomile and Cotton Protein Facial Toner: I'm running low on my current toner and decided since I liked the toners from this brand in the past, to try out a new one.

4. Milani Make It Last Original Natural Finish Setting Spray: I did not necessarily need to run out and replenish on this right away, but I had a bunch of CVS coupons and figured purchasing this was a good use of them.

5. The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Vegan Eye Cream: I'm running low on the eye cream I'm currently using so I decided to pick this one up. The one I'm currently using doesn't have any brightening qualities to it so I really wanted to get an eye cream that would brighten the under-eye area.

Please let me know if you have any comments or questions.

Disclaimer: I purchased everything listed above.

September 2024 Favorites

Hey folksickles,

Alright, all the goodies I've been enjoying in September :)
1. e.l.f. Halo Glow Liquid Filter: Although this is marketed as a liquid highlighter, I personally use this as a glow-giving primer all over the face. I find that it gives my skin a healthy glow when used this way, it doesn't make me look oily or shiny in a bad way when used under foundation. What I enjoy about this too, is that it gives me a little extra boost of coverage as well so I can use less foundation.

2. Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Color in Devotion: This lipstick appears to have been discontinued and honestly what a shame. This is a very comfortable, satin formulation that goes on fairly full-coverage and is a very pretty shade of rosy pink. Personally I love both the formula because it's comfortable and wears well but I also love the color because I feel like it's something that goes with every look while simultaneously brightening up my complexion.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Disclaimer: I purchased all the products mentioned above myself.

September 2024 Empties

All my monthly trash on display for you to see. :P

1. Equate Juicy Citrus Shea Sugar Scrub: I really like that these scrubs are gritty without being overly abrasive and are at an affordable price point. This is one of my favorite scents in the line - I feel like it smells something like citrus but also like passionfruit. I really enjoy it!

2. PURITO PLAINET SQUALANE OIL 100: As always I'm sad to run out of my squalane because I love how it has anti-inflammatory properties, reduces the redness in my skin, and leaves my skin really soft and smooth. I did get a backup so I wouldn't have to be without it.

3. Rare Beauty Kind Words Matte Lipstick in Lively: This lipstick has a pretty caramel tone to it which I thought was a perfect color to transition from summer into fall. The formula is pigmented, full-coverage, and very comfortable to wear. It feels smooth, lightweight, and not dry at all.

4. Ardell Original Demi Wispies: I love that these lashes are very easy to work with, glue close to the lash-line, and are very natural-looking. In fact I wish all lashes had lash bands like the ones on these because they make it so easy to glue these lashes on without them popping off anywhere the way that thick lash bands tend to do. My only issue is that if I take a nap and have these lashes on, they tend to bend easily and never go back to their original shape.

5.  Pure Smile Snail Lip Treatment Honey: I'm so sad to have run out of this lip balm - it was very hydrating and helped soothe any lip irratation to the point where it even helped cold sores heal faster.

6. Bath & Body Works Sunlit Palm Trees Hand Sanitizer: This has a yummy sort of musky mango scent to it, it's almost a bit sporty in a masculine way but is balanced out by the fruitiness of the mango.

7. Rare Beauty Kind Words Matte Lipstick in Gifted: Frankly I thought this lipstick was going to be too brown to work on me but it has just enough red in it to make the formula pull rosy rather than like poop on me. The formula is pigmented, full-coverage, and very comfortable to wear. It feels smooth, lightweight, and not dry at all.

8. matrix Food For Soft detangling hydrating conditioner: This conditioner smells absolutely delicious and I am sad to have run out of it. In addition to smelling fantastic, this added hydration and shine to my hair.

9. Equate Coconut Lime Shea Sugar Scrub: I really like that these scrubs are gritty without being overly abrasive and are at an affordable price point. This smells exactly as its name suggests. I like that the scent is sweet and tropical but isn't heavy at all.

10.Clean Beauty Smoke & Mirrors 6 Pairs of Reusable Lashes with Lash Glue (top pair): These are a pretty, fluffy wispy lash that have a full, fluttery look. I was actually surprised that these lashes are fairly easy to use and have a lash band that bends to the eye. That said, they did like popping off at the inner corners of my eyes.

11. berkley jensen Scented baby wipes in Green Tea & Cucumber: As mentioned in my previous posts - I use these wipes to wipe down surfaces, to wipe down my makeup collection, and to remove swatches from my hands/arms as necessary. I really enjoy the way these smell as well.

Disclaimer: I purchased all of the products mentioned above with the exception of the Rare Beauty Kind Words Matte Lipstick product, which was provided as a sample and the matrix conditioner which was a gift from a friend. All opinions are my own.
