ColourPop Not a Box of Chocolates Pressed Powder Palette Review

Today I bring to you the ColourPop Not a Box of Chocolates Pressed Powder Palette.

AvailabilityThis is available at ulta.com along with its physical store locations (I would call ahead to see if it's in stock because it is currently sold out on the website), as well as at colourpop.com where it retails at $24 for 16 eyeshadows.
Would I buy this again? I think I would.
NotesOk y'all I haven't really bought many palettes this year and caved when I saw this - I have been testing out a lot of colorful eyeshadows this year, as I'm sure you've seen from my posts and missed wearing neutrals. So when I saw ColourPop had shared Shae's video about this palette on their Twitter and saw how pretty the colors in here were, I really wanted to get my hands on this palette.
Champagne Truffle is described as a metallic golden champagne, I'd agree with their description.
Lil' Nougat is described as a soft peachy beige, I'd agree with their description and add that leans very pink, it looks more fleshy in the palette.
Honeycomb Crunch is described as a metallic golden butterscotch, I'd say this is a metallic amber gold. I absolutely adore this color!
Praline is described as a matte soft caramel, I'd say this is a matte peachy brown.
Oh Chip is described as a matte hazelnut, I'd say this is a matte burnt butterscotch.
PB Brittle is described as golden chocolate sparkling glitters, I'd say this has a bit of a brownish base with gold, silver, and pinkish orange micro-glitter.
Amaretto is described as a matte milk chocolate, I'd agree with their description.
Still Bitter is described as a metallic orange chocolate, I'd say this is a metallic burgundy with an amber pearl.
Drizzle Me This is described as a metallic rich smoky chocolate,  I'd say this is a metallic bronze with a golden pearl and gold, silver, and amber pink micro-glitter.
Tiramisu is described as a matte chocolate, I'd say this is a matte, warm, hot chocolate color.
Vibe Choc is described as a metallic true chocolate, I'd say this is a metallic chocolate brown with a soft golden pearl.
Craxy 4 Cocoa is described as a matte chocolate (yes, again!), I'd say it's a matte, neutral, mid-toned brown.
That's Rich is described as a matte, warm reddish chocolate, I'd say this is a matte, reddish-toned, mid-tone brown.
Almost Famous is described as a metallic chocolate cherry, I'd say this is a satiny burgundy with pink and gold micro-glitter.
In Truffle is described as a chocolate with orange and gold pinpoints, I'd say this is a dark chocolate matte with gold and pink micro-glitter sequins.
90% Cacao is described as a matte espresso, I'd agree with their description.

PM
HYDRATING

an overnight jelly mask that deeply quenches dehydrated skin. formulated with hero ingredients in an ultra-hydrating new jelly texture with a serum-like application to effortlessly absorb into skin overnight. skin is left hydrated, supple and totally revived when you wake.

Does it contain any special/beneficial ingredients?
Again, according to fourthraybeauty.com:
hyaluronic acid - known to deeply quench skin with replenishing, fast-absorbing hydration.
mushroom beta glucan - superstar hydrator known to boost collagen and provide instant + long-term moisture.
vitamin b5 – known to hydrate, soothe and soften skin by attracting + retaining moisture.

What is the texture like?
This has a gel cream texture that absorbs quickly and feels cooling when applied.

Is it scented?
This smells mostly of cucumber with just the slightest hint of something sweet.

My overall experience/comments on the product:
My skin has been so dry and flakey lately, especially in the eczema patch that I've been complaining about that I decided to pick up products with the primary function being hydration and potentially repairing the skin barrier. Given that my skin usually doesn't do well with thick products, and thereby true barrier creams/balms being out of the question, I opted for more lightweight hydrators. Now, personally, even though the sleeping masks that I've been using are meant to retexture and give a healthy glow upon waking, my preference for sleeping masks is that they add a boost of hydration to my nighttime routine, so something like this sounded like a perfect thing to try.
I have found that this masks really does add a nice, soothing, cooling, boost of extra hydration to my skin. While it doesn't completely take away my eczema patch, I have notice that the skin in that area tends to be more hydrated, less flakey, and less inflamed when I used this.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

'Ello folksickles. Today's review will be for the Fourth Ray Beauty Double Shift face cleanser.

AvailabilityThis retails at $15 for 5 oz. (142 g) and can be purchased at fourthraybeauty.com and colourpop.com.

Would I buy this again?: I doubt it.

What is this product designed to address?

According to fourthraybeauty.com:
Workin' a double shift.
🧼 What it is – Wash the day (or night) away with our 100% vegan creamy cleanser! This lightweight formula lathers into a rich foam to gently remove impurities, pollution and excess oil without stripping skin of essential moisture or leaving behind a filmy residue.
💖 Why you’ll luv it – Perfect for all skin types, this plush daily cleanser leaves skin feeling super fresh and soft to the touch with a yummy aroma of vanilla, melon + pomegranate for a sweet n' fruity smell!
✅ Why you need it – It’s infused with Squalane, known to improve moisture balance and elasticity, and antioxidant-rich Lychee Extract + Vitamin E to help protect skin from free radicals and oxidative stress for a happy complexion.
a super creamy everyday cleanser that effectively breaks down oil and grime without ever stripping skin. perfect for early mornings or late nights, its gentle formula lathers into a foam to leave your skin feeling fresh, clean and ultra-soft. formulated with an antioxidant-rich blend of plant-based squalane to replenish and support the skin barrier for improved moisture instantly and overtime, and lychee extract + vitamin e to nourish and provide a boost of antioxidant protection.

Does it contain any special/beneficial ingredients?
Once again, according to fourthraybeauty.com:
Squalane  - is known to improve the moisture balance and elasticity in the skin. It replenishes and supports the skin barrier for improved skin moisture immediately and over time.
Vitamin E - is known to nourish and supplement skin with vital antioxidants.
Lychee - Lychee is known for its high content of Vitamin C, Vitamin B-complex, and phytonutrient flavonoids. This combination works to fight free radicals and promotes a clear and bright complexion.

What is the texture like?
This has a texture reminiscent of hydrating cream-to-foam cleansers that I like, but significantly more watery.

Is it scented?
This has a light, clean scent with just the smallest hint of something fruity.

My overall experience/comments on the product:
If I'm going to be honest I purchased this in hopes that it would be similar to something like the SENKA Perfect Whip Collagen in Perfect Face Cleansing Foam. Unfortunately, that's not the case. I would say this cleanser works alright but I personally prefer something with a thicker, more hydrating consistency that still turns into a plush foam. I feel like this is close in doing what I want it to but it's watered down in quite the literal sense because it's just too liquid-y.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

What is this product? What is it supposed to do?
According to fourthraybeauty.com:

SOFTENING
CLEANSING
a gentle cleansing balm that transforms from a silky oil to a milk to melt away makeup and impurities. it gently cleanses without stripping skin or leaving an oily residue. infused with rose hip oil to rejuvenate, argan oil, known to be rich in essential fatty acids, and sunflower seed oil to soothe and moisturize skin. leaves skin soft, refreshed, and ready for the rest of your routine.

Does this contain any special/beneficial ingredients?
Once again, according to fourthraybeauty.com:
Rose Hip Oil - Rich in vitamins, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants. Rose Hip Oil provides a smoother, more even-looking complexion.
Argan Oil - is known to be rich in Vitamin E which smooths and refines skin texture. It is high in essential fatty acids and intensely nourishes and conditions skin.

What is the texture like?
This starts off as a relatively stiff, thick balm that turns into an oil when warmed up in the hands.

Is this scented?
This has a soft, floral scent to it. I don't know that I would describe this as being a rose scent outright but there is a floral undertone to the product.

What has my experience with the product been like?
This balm cleans my face without leaving residue behind and I don't need a lot of product to get my makeup off. While I enjoy using this, I don't find it to be any better or worse in comparison to other cleansing balms I've tried recently. I simply wanted to try something new and this happened to be on sale. Additionally, I wish this came with a scoop, especially because it is a stiffer balm, it feels kind of unsanitary to just dig into this with my fingers.

November 2022 Favorites

Hey folksickles,

Alright, all the goodies I've been enjoying in November :)

1. AOA studio Premium Lashes in Brianna: I really liked these lashes because they have a good balance of being long and spiky where they make my eyes look large but they're also soft so they don't look particularly crazy or intense.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Disclaimer: I paid for the product mentioned above myself.

Love It Or Leave It; Review 2.0: ColourPop blue moon Pressed Powder Palette

Hello folksickles. As a makeup junkie and blogger you may have realized that I review a LOAD of eyeshadow palettes and I like to think of myself as being largely an eyeshadow junkie. In order to de-clutter a bit  I've decided to pick out a palette or series of eyeshadows for the month and have that be my monthly selection for those instances where I'm not doing a tutorial for the blog. Every month I'll do a recap on the eyeshadows - how I feel about them and whether I'll be keeping them or giving them away (and why :P) as well as if I think it's worth its price tag.

You can find a look I did with the palette here. These are the looks I created this month:
So as you can see I created some smoky, some bright, blue looks. I really love the quality of this palette - the color payoff is excellent, the shadows are beautiful, and they blend well. I absolutely adore the selection of blues in this palette - it contains a great shade variety of light, mid-toned, and dark blues/navy tones - in both metallic and matte finishes which enables one to create quite the variety of looks. I honestly love its versatility and I love the way blue looks with my brown eyes so I will definitely be holding onto this palette.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Disclaimer: I received this palette as a gift.
