Nail Polish Review: OPI This Color's Making Waves Nail Lacquer

Nail polish: OPI Nail Lacquer in This Color's Making Waves

What the brush looks like:
My nails with 3 coats of polish, all nails have inm Out the Door Topcoat for Nails on:
Availability: This retails for around $9-$11.50 and can be purchased at drugstores that carry the OPI brand along with opi.com and amazon.com.
Would I buy this again?: I think I would.

Notes: I'd describe this as a deep, jewel toned oceanic teal with golden micro-glitter; the color does give a bit of a greenish-teal, bluish-teal, purple multi-chrome effect depending on how the light hits it which I think is gorgeous. In terms of wear, this chipped somewhat within three days of having it on, mostly on the tips of my nails and began to look more gnarly with the 6th day of wear, my nails tend to chip worse when on the longer side so that may have contributed to it.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Disclaimer: I bought this myself.

November 2023 Arrivals

Ok folksickles! I'm back to replenishing on things that I'm running out of and buying mostly just necessities.

1. ORLY Kiss The Bride Nail Lacquer: I saw this at my local Marshall's at checkout and just knew I had to get it because I loved it so much and ran out. Additionally, it seems to be slightly pinker than the one I had and I'm not mad at it but we'll see how I like it.

2. OPI Nail Lacquer in This Color's Making Waves: I think it will come as a surprise to no one that when I saw this nail polish I had to have it! This shade is giving me ocean reflecting stars at night vibes and I am very here for it!

Please let me know if you have any comments or questions.

Disclaimer: I purchased everything listed above.

November 2023 Favorites

Hey folksickles,

Alright, all the goodies I've been enjoying in November :)

1. Bath & Body Works Berry Waffle Cone Scented Candle: This candle has already made it into one favorites and it's no surprise to me that it's made favorites again. This just smells so good and cozy which I think is perfect now that we've transitioned into colder weather. I would say its scent isn't so much ice cream as it is some kind of gently cinnamon sugar sweet dough. I think it smells delicious!

2. Bobbi Brown Neutral Rose Luxe Lip Color: I think this lipstick is just absolutely perfect because it's a nice neutral pink shade that literally pairs well with any eye look in a way where it looks harmonious and complementary without anything competing. The formula is lovely wherein it glides on, feels hydrating, and stays put nicely. My only issue is the high price point on this.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Disclaimer: The Bobbi Brown lipstick was a freebie from where I used to work.

November 2023 Empties

All my monthly trash on display for you to see. :P

1. UNICAT Loose Setting & Matte Finish Mineral Powder: If I'm being honest I purchased this powder because the packaging is just absolutely adorable. That said, it's a bit too matte for my liking - it didn't emphasize texture or anything like that but it gave me a finish that was more matte that I would have liked. I think this would work nicely for someone with somewhat oilier skin than me.

2. Disney Jasmine Storylook Palette golden sands bronzer: I have to admit that I am shocked that I used up an entire bronzer but here we are. This gave my skin a nice bronzy glow without being too intense or over the top.

3. CALA SPOOKY LASHES in Electra x2: These lashes are beautiful - I personally really love the wispy yet spiky effect that they have. That being said, I find that they like to pop off at the inner and outer corners of the eyes so they're a bit fiddly to apply.

4. Clinique Moisture Surge 72 Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator: I really liked how hydrating yet lightweight this moisturizer is. It really makes my skin feel plump and juicy.

5. lune + aster Yes We Can Lip Balm: I am so sad that this balm has now come to an end because I loved it so much. This gave my lips a nice bit of moisture while also having a very soft, rosy color to it that I think worked well with nearly any eye look I did.

6. Bath & Body Works Golden Sunflower Body Cream: This is a really nice, hydrating body cream that smells nice too. Unfortunately these have gotten too pricey for me to purchase without the semi-annual sale ,however, as I don't feel like they're worth $17/tube.

7. Soapology Dead Sea Salt Scrub in Rose: This scrub smells absolutely delicious and decadent, a truly wonderful floral experience. It's also really abrasive and scrubby just how I prefer my scrubs to be. That being said, I personally found that this is somewhat greasy and tends to leave a residue behind on everything it touches whether that's surfaces or skin which is then, in my experience, difficult to remove. Additionally, as someone who shaves, I prefer sugar scrubs mainly because when salt gets into wounds it stings in quite a prominent way and that's no fun.

8. Bath & Body Works Berry Waffle Cone Scented Candle: I'm so sad that this candle has come to and end because it smells delicious and cozy. I enjoyed burning it every night.

9. Virtue Full Conditioner: I'm genuinely sad to have used this up as the Virtue Full line is my favorite out of all the hair lines I've tried. This smells so good and leaves my hair very silky and shiny.

10. wet n wild photofocus Eyeshadow Primer: Unfortunately, this primer dried up before I was able to use it up completely. Other than that though I think it's a fantastic primer - it helps my shadow go on smooth and wear without creasing for 8+ hours.

11. Juvia's Place I Am Magic Concealer in J21: I absolutely love this concealer - it has good coverage, you get a lot of product so it lasts a long time, and has a glowy, skin-like finish. My only issue is that this shade is a bit too light for me as it's difficult to perfectly color match online.

12. Shop Miss A AOA Studio Dermaplaning Face Razor: I honestly realize that even though I use them for dermaplaning, I prefer using smaller brow razors because they give me better precision. This feels too large and sort of clunky.

13. Laura Mercier Powder Puff: This is the mini size that came with the mini setting powder. I find that this works really nicely to powder my face but I've had this puff for a long time now and it's gotten quite stiff and not soft the way it once was so I believe it's time that we part ways.

Disclaimer: I purchased all of the above with the exception of the Disney, lune+aster, Soapology, and Clinique products which were gifts and/or provided for review.

Love It Or Leave It; Review 2.0: ColourPop So Jaded Pressed Powder Palette

Hello folksickles. As a makeup junkie and blogger you may have realized that I review a LOAD of eyeshadow palettes and I like to think of myself as being largely an eyeshadow junkie. In order to declutter a bit  I've decided to pick out a palette or series of eyeshadows for the month and have that be my monthly selection for those instances where I'm not doing a tutorial for the blog. Every month I'll do a recap on the eyeshadows - how I feel about them and whether I'll be keeping them or giving them away (and why :P) as well as if I think it's worth its price tag.

You can find a look I did with the palette here. These are the looks I created this month:
So as you can see I created all sorts of colorful looks with this palette. Honestly, looking at the layout of the colors I thought it might be hard to pair things together, even with my Decide Now! app, but I've been pleasantly surprised at how nicely everything works together. I purchased this palette in the first place because whenever I'd see people do looks with it, I thought the looks were beautiful. I also love the versatility in this palette wherein you can do both neutral and colorful looks with it. There's also a good mix of light and dark colors to create a lot of shade and textural variety, you can do both soft or smoky looks. I really love the quality of this palette - the color payoff is excellent, the shadows are beautiful and they blend well. This is definitely a keeper in my collection!

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Love It Or Leave It; Review 2.0: ColourPop Smoke N' Roses Pressed Powder Palette

You can find a look I did with the palette here. These are the looks I created this month:
So as you can see I created some soft, some smoky rosy looks with this palette. I really love the quality of this palette - the color payoff is excellent, the shadows are beautiful and they blend well. I have to be honest in that I have mixed feelings on this palette because when I do softer looks with it, I absolutely love them; but when I do more smoky, dark looks, I feel like they just don't look good; or at least in my opinion I don't like the way they look. I use a randomizer (the Decide Now! app) to choose 5 shades for me and then create a look, in case you're wondering why I'm creating looks I'm not necessarily a fan of. I like the app because it makes me use colors I may not think to reach for or to pair together but sometimes I generally dislike an entirely dark look on myself in general. I have decided to hang onto it for the time being.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
