Mask Review: Trader Joe's Peel-Off Charcoal Face Mask

'Ello folksickles. Today's review will be for the Trader Joe's Peel-Off Charcoal Face Mask.

Availability:  This is exclusive to the Trader Joe's 12 Days of Beauty advent calendar which you can find exclusively at Trader Joe's (I would suggest calling your local store(s) before heading out there to make sure this is in stock, and potentially have it put on hold, if you want it).

Would I buy this again? No.

What is this product? What is it supposed to do?
There's no particular official literature on this product but as the name implies it is a peel-off charcoal mask.

Does this contain any special/beneficial ingredients?
Charcoal Activated Powder: Has skin-cleansing properties.
Glycerin: Draws moisture to the skin.
Kaolin Clay: Absorbs excess sebum and clears pores of dirt and debris. This is a gentle clay that isn't irritating to the skin.
Coconut Oil: Has moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties.
Argan Kernel Oil: Has anti-inflammatory and hydrating properties.
Rosemary Flower Extract: Has anti-inflammatory properties.
Calendula Flower Extract: Has skin-tightening properties.
Yogurt Extract: Has hydrating and anti-aging properties.
Vitamin E: Has antioxidant properties.

What is the texture like?
This has a thick, gelatinous texture that is common among peel-off masks.

Is this scented?
This doesn't have a particularly discernable scent to it.

What has my experience with the product been like?
Honestly the ingredient composition in this mask is good - in my personal opinion, as hydration and anti-inflammation is something I appreciate. It also left my skin feeling extremely soft, smooth, and deeply cleansed after I removed it. That being said, the method of... masking... also left my skin irritated and bothered. By nature, peel-off masks tend to irritate the skin and essentially wax off any peach fuzz when you remove them. The experience is irritating as not only does the mask hurt a bit to remove, but it hurts to then have to go in and literally scrub the sections that won't peel off because they're difficult to rinse off as well. Ultimately I wish this was just a clay mask that could've been washed off.

Please let me know if you have any comments or questions.

DisclaimerI purchased this myself.
