Lip Color Review: YSL 8 Orange de Chine Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres Glossy Stain

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres Glossy Stain in 8 Orange de Chine
AvailabilityThis retails at $38 for .20 oz (6ml) and is available at sephora.com, lordandtaylor.com, bloomingdales.com, nordstrom.com along with their respective physical store locations.
Would I buy this again?: I'm not sure.
Notes: I'd describe this color as being a reddish tangerine with tiny gold specks in it. It's a beautiful color and goes on super comfortably, to me it feels like splashing cool water on the lips, yet gel-like at the same time. It just glides on. As the name implies, this has a glossy finish. I'd say wear time is around 4-6+ hours for the color itself, as this does stain, but the glossy element tends to dissipate within 2-3 hours. It has a sweet, fruity, slightly perfume-y scent - it kind of really grew on me, I like it a lot.

Lipstick Review: YSL 01 Le Rouge Rouge Pur Couture

YSL Rouge Pur Couture in 01 Le Rouge
AvailabilityThis retails at $38 for .13 oz (3.8g) and is available at sephora.com, lordandtaylor.com, bloomingdales.com, nordstrom.com along with their respective physical store locations.
Would I buy this again?: Yes!
Notes: According to sephora.com, this color is described as a blood red. Here's some story time, when I first started working in Sephora the idea of wearing an intense, bold red that wasn't metallic or remotely berry-toned was still a frightening thought to me. This red, and many of the other YSL lipsticks were sold out during that time, but we still had testers. There was this client that came in, really distraught that this was out of stock on account of "it's the very best red." I thought she was being dramatic yet... something about it called my name and I decided to try it out. I. fell. in. love. It was so magical and what justifies the painful price point for me - these are the most luxurious, wonderful lipsticks I've ever tried. They glide on like butter, last for a good long time without retouching, and are hydrating. My lips were a hot chapped mess when I tried this on, a red no less, and it looked glorious and I was getting compliments and, needless to say, I picked it up the moment it came back in stock. This is a very classic, pin-up red on me.  I'd say wear time is around 4-6+ hours, depending on whether you eat or not. It has a sweet, fruity, slightly perfume-y scent - it kind of really grew on me, I like it a lot.

Lipstick Review: YSL 59 Melon D'Or Rouge Pur Couture

YSL Rouge Pur Couture in 59 Melon D'Or
AvailabilityThis retails at $38 for .13 oz (3.8g) and is available at sephora.com, lordandtaylor.com, bloomingdales.com, nordstrom.com along with their respective physical store locations.
Would I buy this again?: I'm not sure.
Notes: According to sephora.com, this color is described as a golden orange. I'd say this is a soft coral pink with an intense golden pearl. To be completely honest, this shade reminded me of a long-discontinued favorite, MAC Lollipop Loving Lipstick, except the pearl in this is more gold than the chartreuse in the MAC. It's kind of mermaid-y, summery, and somewhat magical.  I'd say wear time is around 4-6+ hours, depending on whether you eat or not. It has a sweet, fruity, slightly perfume-y scent - it kind of really grew on me, I like it a lot.

Lipstick Review: wet n wild Purty Persimmon MegaLast Lip Color

wet n wild MegaLast Lip Color in Purty Persimmon
AvailabilityI can't really speak to price or availability as this is a drugstore item. That said I've seen these lipsticks at nearly every drugstore I've been to so I imagine they're not hard to find. Specific colors may be a different story though. The price range is about $2-4 per lipstick but be sure to look out for coupons or store deals, you can score them for super cheap.
Would I buy this again?: I'm not sure.
Notes: I'd say this is a GORGEOUS tangerine/reddish orange tone. This looks pretty satiny on the lips and I'd advise pairing it with a lip balm to have it go on smoother; it goes on opaque. I'd say wear time is around 4-6+ hours, depending on whether you eat or not. It has a slightly plastic-y scent/flavor.

wet n wild MegaLast Lip Color in Pinkerbell

Would I buy this again?: I'm not sure.
Notes: I'd say this is an ever-so-slightly cool-toned pink with a slight hint of a gold shimmer through it. This looks pretty satiny on the lips and I'd advise pairing it with a lip balm to have it go on smoother; it goes on opaque. I'd say wear time is around 4-6+ hours, depending on whether you eat or not. It has a slightly plastic-y scent/flavor.

Notes: I'd say this is an intense fuchsia/raspberry pink. This looks pretty satiny on the lips and I'd advise pairing it with a lip balm to have it go on smoother; it goes on opaque. I'd say wear time is around 4-6+ hours, depending on whether you eat or not. It has a slightly plastic-y scent/flavor.

Lipstick Review: Urban Decay Shame Revolution Lipstick

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Shame
AvailabilityThis has been discontinued.
Would I buy this again?: I'm not sure.
Notes: This is described as a deep berry.  I'd agree, it's a very deep, berry-toned red. In terms of berries, I prefer ones like these on myself over those that have more of a brown undertone. This looks pretty satiny/ has a bit of a sheen on the lips and goes on pretty smooth; it goes on opaque. I'd say wear time is around 4-6+ hours, depending on whether you eat or not. It has an ever-so-slightly sweet scent/flavor.

Lipstick Review: The Face Shop 07 Full Pink Collagen Ampoule Lipstick

The Face Shop Collagen Ampoule Lipstick in 07 Full Pink
Availability: It appears that this has been discontinued.
Would I buy this again?: I'm not sure.
Notes: I'd describe this as being a cherry-toned pinkish red. I remember swatching this and thinking it was gorgeous and like... it was on my mind for a while and I wanted to go back and pick it up... not knowing how much it was. I think that they were trying to play that these look and feel similar to the YSL lipsticks so they wanted to attach a YSL-ish price tag to them. I'm kinda salty on that end. It feels very moisturizing going on and stays feeling that way. This goes on semi-sheer and can be layered to reach near-full opacity. I'd say wear time is around 4-6+ hours, depending on whether you eat or not. It has a soft, perfume-y scent.

Lipstick Review: Tattoo Junkee Pucker Up Lip Paint

Tattoo Junkee Lip Paint in Pucker Up
AvailabilityThis particular shade has been discontinued.
Would I buy this again?: Yes
Notes: Tattoo Junkee describes this as the most perfect red you will ever wear. I'd describe this as being a vivid, true red. It is incredibly pin-up and if you are looking for THE RED - you know, the very popular matte, true red that makes you look straight out of a 50s photoshoot  get you some of this. It also includes a ruby-ish pinkish-red glitter. This goes on opaque and will dry to a matte finish when worn alone and is obviously glittery if you wear the glitter over it, my advice for successful glitter application is to work in quadrants so you can press the glitter in when this is still wet. This wears pretty much all day but may need a retouch if you eat. That said, I'd highly recommend taking off and redoing the glitter if you plan to wear this as a glitter lip. It has a candy-ish/vanilla scent that's mixed with something chemically... I'd say the sweet scent is what lingers on the mouth.

Lipstick Review: Sephora Collection We Have To Talk Sephora Rouge Cream Lipstick

Sephora Collection Sephora Rouge Cream Lipstick in We've Got To Talk
Availability: This has been discontinued.
Would I buy this again?: I'm not sure.
Notes: I'd describe this as being a warm-toned coral/strawberry pink-red. I wanted a bright pink that felt more warm-toned than cool toned and this was the winner. It feels very moisturizing going on and stays feeling that way. This goes on mostly opaque and can be layered to reach full opacity. I'd say wear time is around 4-6+ hours, depending on whether you eat or not. It has a slightly plastic-y sweet scent/flavor.

Please let me know if you have any comments or questions. :)
